The entire GOLD family (Board of Directors, Science Committee, Emeriti and Assembly members) report with great sadness the passing of Professor Roberto Rodriguez-Roisin on February 27, 2025, after a short and very aggressive disease.
Roberto was one of the founders of GOLD, a past chairman of its Board of Directors and an international leader in pulmonary gas exchange. In addition to his contributions to GOLD, he also played an important role within ERS, including as President and Associate Editor of the ERJ. Roberto had an enormous influence on many pulmonologists around the world, including many within the GOLD family. He was not only an impeccable scientist and a kind and encouraging mentor, but also a man of principle and good friendship. He will be missed and remembered.
