The NCD Alliance is a formal, membership-based, non-governmental organization (NGO) in Geneva, Switzerland. It is dedicated to a world in which everyone can live a healthy and productive life, free from the preventable suffering, stigma, disability and death caused by noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The NCD Alliance maintains strategic relations with the World Health Organization (WHO), UN and governments and is at the forefront of elevating NCDs onto the global health and development agenda.
The NCD Alliance has a global network of more than 425 members in 60+ countries. This includes global and national NGOs, scientific and professional associations, academic and research institutions, private sector entities and dedicated individuals.
GOLD is a partner of the NCD Alliance and as a supporter is able to engage with the NCD leadership and ensure that COPD is considered in discussions on global NCD issues and implementation strategies.
With NCD Alliance guidance, GOLD participated in the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on the prevention and control of NCDs and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing. GOLD presented evidence at the Multistakeholder hearing and attended the High-Level meeting at the UN General Assembly to advocate for increased access to diagnosis and inhaled medicines for people living with COPD and ensure this was included in the Political Declaration.
GOLD has continued to work on improving access to medication. It contributed to and endorsed the NCDA Report on Global Priorities around Access to NCD Medicines, Diagnostics and Medical Devices which outlines key priorities and recommendations leading up to the 2026 International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing and the 2027 UN High-Level Meeting.

GOLD has also begun to engage with NCD alliances in countries to raise awareness of the burden of COPD and advocate for better management.
GOLD worked closely with the NCD Alliance to further the efforts of the FIRS working group which:
- Worked to ensure inclusion of language in the Political Declaration from the UN High-level NCD meeting (2025)
- Worked to support the inclusion of the need to improve access to quality, affective, and affordable inhaled medicines for patients with COPD and asthma in a WHA Resolution (2
